The Ali Birra Foundation is proud to announce the establishment of ECHO-Autism Ethiopia.
This pioneering program aims to create a national Hub under the globally recognized Project ECHO model, bringing together mental health professionals, pediatricians, educators, therapists, and families to engage in structured case-based discussions and shared learning. Through this collaborative platform, participants will exchange practical experiences, strengthen local capacity, and promote evidence-informed approaches to the management of Autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities.
Guided by the core principle of “All Teach, All Learn,” ECHO-Autism Ethiopia seeks to democratize specialized knowledge, ensuring that expertise is not confined to major urban centers but is equitably shared across regions. By fostering a multidisciplinary learning community, the program aspires to improve early identification, enhance intervention quality, and ultimately elevate the quality of life for children and families affected by Autism and related conditions throughout Ethiopia.
The program will officially launch its inaugural cohort on March 27, 2026. Prior to this, a Launching Ceremony and Stakeholder Consultation Forum will be held on March 13, 2026, convening key stakeholders from Ethiopia and international partners.
The stakeholder forum will serve as a platform to:
• Strengthen national and international collaborations
• Align efforts with existing health and education systems
• Identify priority areas for research, training, and service delivery
• Mobilize sustainable partnerships to expand access to care
